Trends By Period (Detail) Page
This report allows you to select students based on a specified absence criteria and then review attendance information for attendance periods for potential trends. For example, you can search for students with 5 or more absences so you can see if students are frequently missing first period on Mondays and Fridays.
Run Attendance Trends by Period (Detail) Report
- Select Attendance > All > Reports >Trends by Period (Detail).
- Specify the report options.
- Click Run.
- Use the Tasks/Reports options on the Navigation bar to view task status and retrieve reports.
Fields
Prompts Panel
Field | Description |
---|---|
Building | Select the enrollment building of the students to include. |
Start Date | Select: By Date - to use a set date as your start date. Enter the first date to check for trends. |
End Date | Select: Today - to use today as the last date to check. This option is useful if you schedule the report to run periodically. |
Calculate On | The type of attendance grouping to use. The value selected in this field determines the data that is available in the next field. Select: Code - to check absences for specific attendance codes. |
Attendance Codes | The codes or groups to be checked. The name of the field and the available options depend on your selection in the previous field. Select codes from the field's drop-down list, or click (asterisk) to select all codes, then remove any that do not apply. |
Count Period Absences | Determines whether absences show up in the report by day or for each individual period. If you select option 2 or 3 in the Occurrence Criteria section, this field is automatically set to Only count within each separate attendance period and the field is inaccessible. Select: Count across all selected periods - to have absences listed by day in the report. You will only be able to use option 1 in the Occurrence Criteria section. If you select this option, the attendance period is not printed in the report. Only count within each separate attendance period - to have absences totaled by period on the report. You can use any of the Occurrence Criteria. |
Days to Check | Checked if you want to include the day in the report. Select the days that should be included. If you select a single day, for example, Friday, and then select consecutive absences in the Occurrence Criteria section, the report will show absences for consecutive Fridays. Select codes from the field's drop-down list, or click (asterisk) to select all codes, then remove any that do not apply. |
Attendance Periods | The attendance periods to include in the report. Select codes from the field's drop-down list, or click (asterisk) to select all codes, then remove any that do not apply. |
Page Break On Student | Checked if you want to break to a new page for each student. |
Log Statistics | Checked if you want to print the prompts in a log file. Otherwise, a log file will be created only if an error occurs. |
Occurrence Criteria Section
Select one of the rows to determine which absences to check in the days selected.
For examples of how criteria can be defined, refer to Attendance Criteria Examples.

Note
The low end of the range must be greater than 0 (zero). This report will not return results for students who do not have any of the selected absence codes. Use the Perfect Attendance report to find students who had no absences for the selected codes.
Field | Description |

Option 1 | Include only students who have at least * Low end of range absences, but no more than * High end of range absences anywhere in the reporting cycle. This statement looks for students with the selected attendance codes in any course within the date range and days selected. The system checks for absences in all courses. The reporting cycle is limited by the Start and End Dates and the days selected in the Days to Check field. The range of absences can be filled by multiple absences on one day, absences on multiple days, or a combination of the two. |
Option 2 | Include only students who have at least * Low end of range absences, but no more than * High end of range absences, entered for the same course. This statement looks for students with the selected attendance codes in any course within the date range and days selected. Only courses where a student had the selected range of absences are included in the report. The reporting cycle is limited by the Start and End Dates and the days selected in the Days to Check field. If you have courses that cross periods (their start and end periods differ), each period absence is counted separately. |
Option 3 | Include only students who have at least * Low end of range absences, but not more than * High end of range Consecutive or Cumulative absences in the selected attendance periods, and these absences were entered for at least * Low end of range days, but not more than * High end of range Consecutive or Cumulative days. This statement checks for one or more absences per day, on one or more days. The statement has two parts:

Sort Panel
Use the Sort panel to specify how records should be ordered in a report. You enter lines of sort criteria; the system compares your sort criteria against the corresponding fields in the records being searched and displays records in either ascending or descending order based on the sort fields.
