Gradebook Setup Page

Use the Gradebook Setup page to define categories and assignments for course-sections and competency groups. For course-sections, you can also define IPR Averages, Report Card Averages, and upload attachments.

The course or competency group is displayed in the Gradebook Setup toolbar. If you need to update the class or marking period, click Change to display the Class List pop-up, and make your selections.

To copy categories, assignments, and attachments from one class to another, click

to launch the Copy Categories and Assignments page.

If your school has assigned a Gradebook category type to the selected course, you may not be able to edit fields on the page. Category types allow your school to pre-define the Gradebook rules for courses. For more information, refer to What Is a Gradebook Category Type?

A total of five tabs can be displayed on the Gradebook Setup page. When a competency group is selected, only the Categories and Assignments tabs will be displayed.

  • Categories: Use this tab to select the categories to be used. Your school administrator defines the categories used in the Gradebook, such as homework, quizzes, and exams. For each category, you can indicate the default weight of the category when calculating IPR and Report card marks. For more information, refer to:

  • Assignments: Use this tab to add the assignments to be scored. You must assign each assignment to a category. For more information, refer to:

  • IPR Average: Use this tab to view or change the IPR average setup that is used to calculate marks to post to IPR marks for the course. If your administrator has configured TAC to allow teachers to override weights for averages, you can change the weights for the categories that are averaged to calculate the IPR mark(s). This tab does not display if a competency group is selected. For more information, refer to:

  • Report Card Average: Use this tab to view or change the Report Card average setup that is used to calculate the mark(s) to post to report cards for the course. If your administrator has configured TAC to allow teachers to override weights for averages, you can change the weights for the categories or marks that are averaged to calculate the report card mark. This tab does not display if a competency group is selected. For more information, refer to:

  • Attachments: Use this tab to upload attachments that you want to store for the class. This tab does not display if a competency group is selected. For more information, refer to:
