Resource Groups Page

Use this page to add or change a resource group. Groups contain either staff members or rooms. Resource groups are assigned to courses on the MSB Course Setup Page. When the Master Schedule Builder runs, a specific resource from the group is allocated to a course-section. Refer to MSB Course Setup Page and Build Master Schedule Page.

View Resource Group Records

  1. Select Scheduling > Courses > Master Schedule Builder > Resource Groups.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. On the Search Results panel, click the Group Code link.

Add Resource Group Records

  1. Select Scheduling > Courses > Master Schedule Builder > Resource Groups.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Complete fields as needed.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Adjust the Allocations panel field settings as needed. Refer to  Change Resource Group Allocations Options.
  6. Click Save.

Change Resource Group Records

  1. Select Scheduling > Courses > Master Schedule Builder > Resource Groups.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. On the Search Results panel, click the Group Code link.
  4. Change values as needed.
  5. Click Save.

Delete Resource Group Records

  1. Select Scheduling > Courses > Master Schedule Builder > Resource Groups.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Select the Delete icon checkbox for each record to delete.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Yes.

Change Resource Group Allocations Options

For more detailed information about staff and room allocation procedures, refer to:  Staff Building Allocation Procedures and Room Allocation Procedures.

  1. Select Scheduling > Courses > Master Schedule Builder > Resource Groups.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. On the Allocations panel, click the Additional Options icon, and then adjust the settings as needed:
    • To select between setting up allocations for individual marking periods or for all marking periods, select the appropriate option:
      • If the Allocations panel currently displays "Set for All Marking Periods", the "Set Allocations for Individual Marking Periods" option displays.
      • If the Allocations panel currently displays separate sections for each Marking Period, the "Set Allocations for All Marking Periods" option displays.
    • To reset the values to the default settings, select Reset Allocations.
  4. Click Save.

Definition Panel

Description

Building

Code identifying the building associated with the resource group.

Group Type

Identifies the resource being included in the group (S - Staff or R - Room). The type selected in this field determines whether you select Staff or Room resources in the Resource Members Panel.

Group Code

Code identifying the resource group.

Description

Description of the resource group.

Resource Members Panel

The Group Type selected in the Definition Panel for the Resource Group determines the type of Resource Members that display in this panel, either Staff or Room.

    • If the Group Type is S - Staff, the Staff column heading displays in this panel, and you can select the staff members that are part of this Resource Group.
    • If the Group Type is R - Room, the Room column heading displays in this panel, and you can select the rooms that are part of this Resource Group.

Resource Members Panel - Staff Groups

Staff members that are part of this Resource Group.

Details

Click the View Detail icon to display a staff member's Staff Building Information Page.

Delete

Select the Delete checkbox for each record to delete, and then click Save.

Rooms that are part of this Resource Group.

Details

Click the View Detail icon to display a room's Room Page.

Delete

Select the Delete icon checkbox for each record to delete, and then click Save.

Allocations Panel

Use this panel to add or change resource allocations for staff members or rooms. The Master Schedule Builder and Whiteboard use resource allocations to check the availability of staff members and rooms when scheduling course-sections. Allocations must be defined for each school year.

Prerequisite: Intervals, Marking Periods, Cycle Days, and Scheduling Periods must be configured before you can set up resource allocations on this panel.

By default, this panel displays expanded with either: a single grid that allows you to set the same resource allocations for all marking periods (Set for All Marking Periods) or with individual grids for you to set up different resource allocations for each marking period specified on the building's Marking Periods Page.

To change the mode, click the Additional Options icon at the top right of the panel, and select either Set Allocations for Individual Marking Periods or Set Allocations for All Marking Periods, depending on the mode currently displayed.

    • Indicate a resource is available during a timeslot by entering the number of resources that may be scheduled in each Marking Period/Cycle Day/Period slot.
    • Indicate a resource is not available during a timeslot by entering a 0 (zero) in the appropriate Marking Period/Cycle Day/Period slot.
