Course | Code identifying the course. |
Number of Requests | The number of requests that have been entered for this course. |
Average Class Size | The number of requests divided by the number of sections. |
Block Type | Determines how the Master Schedule Builder processes the course setup record. C - Blockette Course - indicates that this is a regular course-section that is assigned to at least one block course. The Build creates course-sections based on the setup information. When a course is being used as a blockette, an additional field, Part of Block Course, displays, providing a link to the block course. |
Part of Block Course | If this course is a blockette, indicates the course with which it is associated. Click the link to display the block course record. For more information, refer to Overview of Block Courses. |
Course Length | The length of the course. Your entry here determines your options in the Pattern field in the Section(s) area. Select: S - Specific Number of Semesters - to indicate this is for a specific number of semesters. In the Pattern field, you indicate how many semesters. |
Duration Type | The marking periods or other durations that a course-section can meet. |
Span | The number of marking periods or other durations this course meets. Only available if the Course Length is set to M. |
Same Teacher | For a block course, check if course blockettes with the same section number should have the same teacher. |
Same Period | For a block course, check if course blockettes with the same section number should meet in the same period. This should only be used if the course-sections meeting times will not overlap, for example, if one course meets in marking periods 1 and 2 and the other meets in marking periods 3 and 4. |
All Sections Same | Checked if all sections of the course will have the same duration type and resource (staff and room) information. |
Number of Sections | The number of sections that the Master Schedule Builder will create. The Course Setup Utility sets this number by dividing the number of student requests by the number in the Maximum in Class field. |
Sections
Field | Description |
---|---|
Section | The number of the section. If All Sections Same is unchecked, the system creates separate sections, based on the Number of Sections field. |

Staff Type | Indicates whether a specific teacher or any teacher in a group can be assigned to the course. Select: Staff - to enter one teacher in the Staff Resource field. |
Staff Resource | The teacher or group of teachers who can be assigned to the course-section. If you selected Staff in the Staff Type field, enter a teacher. If you selected Group in the Staff Type field, enter a group. All teachers in the group must have the appropriate teacher qualifications in order to be assigned to the course-section. Teacher Qualification
This section defines the qualifications required for a teacher to be considered highly qualified for teaching the course-section.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Qualifications | Select the types of qualifications a staff member must have to teach the course section. The selections available are set up in Registration's Staff Qualifications table. Select codes from the field's drop-down list or click the Select All (asterisk) icon to select all codes, then remove any that do not apply. You will receive a warning if the teacher assigned to the course-section does not meet all of the qualifications selected. |
Note
In eSchoolPlus and in the Whiteboard application, if there are teacher qualifications specified for a course, the teacher must have these qualifications in order for you to assign the teacher to the course-section. An alert displays if the teacher does not have the appropriate qualifications. Whether you can save the record with such warnings depends on your security resources.

Block Information
Displays the Blockette Courses within this Block Course. To delete a blockette, click the Delete icon in the row for the course you want to delete. For more information, refer to Overview of Block Courses.

Details | You can click the View Detail icon to go to the MSB Course Setup page for that blockette. |
Same Section | Checked if all sections of the course will have the same duration type and resource (staff and room) information. |
Mandatory | Checked if the blockette is mandatory. When you define the blockettes for the block in the Master Schedule, you can select options to specify how strictly students are grouped within blockettes. For example, for each blockette, you can select whether the blockette is mandatory. If all blockettes in the block are mandatory, the student will be scheduled into a blockette course-section only if the student can be scheduled into all of the blockettes. For more information, refer to "Options for Defining Blockettes" in Overview of Block Courses. |
We recommend defining blockettes with at least one mandatory blockette. When the scheduler tries to schedule a block with no mandatory blockettes, it attempts to schedule all possible combinations of blockette sections, slowing down the scheduler's performance.
