Setting Up Home Access Center

This topic describes setting up Home Access Center.

Set up Home Access Center

  1. Use the HAC District Configuration Page (Administration > HAC Setup > Setup > HAC District Configuration) to define and allows students and guardians to change passwords online.
  2. For each building that allows students and guardians to access HAC, use the HAC Building Configuration Page (Administration > HAC Setup > Setup > HAC Building Configuration) to define the type of information that can be viewed. You can also define email alerts to which guardians and students can subscribe.
    Note
    Throughout the year, you may want to disable certain options based on the school year cycle. For example, you may disable access to Report Cards information when you are preparing report cards for a report card run.
  3. Set up access to HAC for guardians and students by selecting the HAC Access checkbox in the following eSchoolPlus pages:
    Guardians - Contact page
    Students - Student Addresses page
    In addition, guardians and students must have a login ID and password stored in these pages. For more information, refer to Setting Up Access to Home Access Center for Students and Guardians.
  4. To display a news item for students and guardians, define news using My eSchoolPlus > All > Entry > HAC News.
  5. Some HAC pages display information from data warehouse tables. In order for students and guardians to view information for these pages, you must set up views and generate the data warehouse.
    • To display Progress Report information in HAC, you must define the Progress View Setup (Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > View Setup > Progress View Setup)for the building even if your building does not generate printed progress reports. When you want students and guardians to access information for a progress report run date, you must run the Generate Progress Data Warehouse (Mark Reporting > Utilities > Build Progress Data > Generate Progress Data Warehouse) for the run date.
    • To display report card information in HAC, you must set up the Report Card View Setup (Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > View Setup > Report Card View Setup)for the report card run for the Report Card Type even if your building does not generate printed report cards. When you want students and guardians to access report card information for a report card run, you must run the Generate RC Data Warehouse (Mark Reporting > Utilities > Build Report Card Data > Generate RC Data Warehouse)for the run.
    • To display transcript information in HAC, you must set up the Transcript View Setup (Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > View Setup > Transcript View Setup)for the building even if your building does not generate printed transcripts. When you want students and guardians to access transcript information for a view type, you must run the Generate Transcript Data Warehouse (Mark Reporting > Utilities > Build Transcript Data > Generate Transcript Data Warehouse) for the view type.
  6. To display an option to view a PDF of the most recent report card, select the Home Access Center Upload checkbox when you print report cards from the Print Report Cards Page (Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Report Card Reports > Print Report Cards).
