Setting Up Logins and Passwords for HAC
On this page:
To access Home Access Center (HAC), guardians and students must have HAC access defined. They also must have login IDs and passwords set up.
Granting HAC access
The HAC Access checkbox must be selected for guardians and students to enable them to view student information in HAC. This field can be found in the following locations:
Guardians | Contact page, Student/Contact Relationship panel, Access section |
Students | Student Addresses page, Student/Contact Relationship panel, Access section |
For guardians who need to access HAC for multiple students, the HAC Access checkbox must be selected on the Contact page for each student.
Assigning login IDs and passwords
Logins and passwords can be assigned to guardians and students in the following locations:
Guardians | Contact page, Email and Login panel |
Students | Student Addresses page, Email and Login panel |
Besides entering this information directly, your district has two other options for assigns login IDs and passwords. You will most likely use a combination of the three possible methods.
- Online Registration: You can set up HAC to allow guardians and students to register online. They must provide their names, cities, and zip codes. If the information matches more than one contact, then they also must enter the email address that was provided to the district. If a contact match has been made, they can create a login ID. Then, an access code will be generated and sent to their email address. After they enter the provided access code and a birthdate for one of their students, they can create a password.
To enable online registration, the Allow to Register Online checkbox in the HAC District Configuration page must be selected. A separate checkbox is provided for guardians and students.
Note
If your district allows students and guardians to register online for HAC, you should gather their email information. An individual cannot register online if they do not have an email address stored in eSchoolPlus. - System-generated logins and access codes sent home in a mail merge letter: Using Registration > Utilities > Tools > Generate HAC Credentials, you can generate a login ID and an access code that the parent or student can use to get initial access to Home Access Center so they can create a password. If you choose to generate login IDs, you can specify the format to use for the login ID.
To send a letter home for the guardians and students, you must set up a mail merge form letter and merge the data file created by the Generate HAC Credentials page. Form letters can be created and merged in Microsoft Word. - Enter login and password for each contact: Have guardians and students come into the school and have a clerk manually enter the login ID and password information for guardians and students.
Changing login IDs and passwords
You can change the password in a guardian's Contact page or a student's Student Addresses page.
You also can allow guardians and students to change their own passwords in HAC under the following conditions:
- The Allow to Register Online checkbox on the HAC District Configuration page must be selected. A separate checkbox is provided for guardians and students.
- The Change Password on Next Login checkbox must be selected on the Email and Login panel on guardians' Contact pages and students' Student Addresses pages.
Note
Although the HAC Access for a contact is stored for each student, other guardian information used by HAC is stored once per contact. As long as all students in the family are linked to the same contact record, then the guardian will have the same Login ID, Password, email, and language of correspondence for all students.
