Enter Gradebook Comments for Scores

Use this procedure to enter comments for a score to help track information about an assignment for a student. If you want to enter comments for only one or two student scores, you can select the score and open a dialog to enter comments on the Gradebook Entry page.

If you need to enter comments for multiple students, use the Assignment Detail page which lets you enter individual comments for the assignment's scores without opening a dialog for each score's comment.

To display which score fields currently have comments on the Gradebook Entry page, click Display Attendance Detail from Gradebook.1.JPG , and select the Enter Gradebook Comments for Scores.2.JPG  option. The Enter Gradebook Comments for Scores.2.JPG  indicator then displays in all score cell that have a comment.

Comments do not print on the Student Detail Report or the printable version of the Gradebook.

Enter a gradebook comment for a score from the Gradebook Entry page

Use this procedure to enter comments for a small number of student scores. To enter comments more quickly for many or all students for an assignment, use the Assignment Detail page procedure below.

  1. From Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.1.JPG  Gradebook, select Entry to display the Gradebook Entry page.

  2. If you are in SBGB Summary Mode, click Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.2.JPG  for GB Entry mode or Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.3.JPG  for SBGB Detail mode on the mode selector Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.4.JPG .

  3. If you need to update the class or marking period, click Change to display the Class List pop-up, and make your selections.

  4. If the assignment is not displayed on the assignment header, select the appropriate category or mark type in the Competencies and Marks filters or the Categories and Marks filter.

  5. Click on a score cell to select it.

  6. Right-click, and then select Enter Score Comments.
    If your system does not support right-click, select Enter Score Comments from the Actions/Reports drop-down field.

  7. On the Enter Score Comments dialog, enter the comment information.If the Comment Code field displays, you can click to select a district-defined comment code.In the Enter Comment field, enter the free text comment (up to 255 characters).Check Publish to display the comment for students and guardians in Home Access Center.

  8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 to enter comments for additional scores.

  9. When finished:If you've enabled Auto Saving, you're done. For more information about Auto Saving, refer to the Settings topic in the online help system.Otherwise, click Save.

Enter gradebook comments for multiple assignment scores from the Assignment Detail page

Use this procedure to quickly enter individual comments for multiple students' assignment scores.

  1. From Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.1.JPG  Gradebook, select Entry to display the Gradebook Entry page.

  2. If you are in SBGB Summary Mode, click Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.2.JPG  for GB Entry mode or Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.3.JPG  for SBGB Detail mode on the mode selector Enter Scores from the Assignment Detail Page.4.JPG .

  3. If you need to update the class or marking period, click Change to display the Class List pop-up, and make your selections.

  4. If the assignment is not displayed on the assignment header, select the appropriate category or mark type in the Competencies and Marks filters or the Categories and Marks filter.

  5. Click Enter Gradebook Comments for Scores.3.JPG on the desired Assignment's header to display the Assignment Detail entry page.

  6. For each student you wish to enter comments for, click worddav14d8a1f717cb73243875f24aa537ecd5.png to select a district-defined comment code in the Comment Code column, enter a comment (up to 255 characters) in the Enter Comment column, and check the Publish box for comments/codes you wish to be published in Home Access Center. The Comment Code column only displays if you district has defined codes.

  7. When finished:If you've enabled Auto Saving, you're done. For more information about Auto Saving, refer to the Settings topic in the online help system.Otherwise, click Save.
