Teacher Assignment Search Page

Use this page to assign teachers to student competencies. You can assign by primary homeroom, secondary homeroom, student criteria, or manually assign a single teacher to all students for a competency group.

View teacher assignments

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Review the assignments in the Search Results panel.
  4. If the competency group is defined to be assigned based on student criteria, click a teacher's link to see the students who are assigned to the teacher.

Add homeroom or manual teacher assignments

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. In the Default Assignment field, select the appropriate option.
  4. If you selected to manually assign the teacher, select the staff member for all students in the Staff ID column.
  5. Click Save.

Add student criteria teacher assignments

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. In the Default Assignment field, select C - Student Criteria.
  4. Click Add.
  5. On the Teacher Assignment Student Criteria page, select the staff member to assign.
  6. To select students by ID or Name, use the blank row at the bottom of the list.
  7. To select students based on criteria, enter the filter and click Load.
    A dialog displays prompting you to choose whether Select box is automatically selected for all students. Click Yes or No.
  8. Review the student list and set the Select box as needed to include or exclude a student.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Back to return to the Teacher Assignment Search page.

Change teacher assignments

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Change values as needed.
  4. Click Save.

Change student criteria teacher assignments

Note

A student can only be assigned to one competency teacher for a competency group. If a student's assignment needs to be changed, you must remove the student from the previous teacher's student list before you can add the student to the new teacher's student list.

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Click the teacher's link.
  4. To remove a student assignment for the teacher, select the 
     (Delete) box for the student.
  5. To select additional students by ID or Name, use the blank row at the bottom of the list.
  6. To select students based on criteria, enter the filter and click Load.
    A dialog displays prompting you to choose whether Select box is automatically selected for all students. Click Yes or No.
  7. Review the student list and set the Select box as needed to include or exclude a student.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Back to return to the Teacher Assignment Search page.

Change staff assigned based on student criteria

If staff assignments are changing and you want to change the current staff member assigned to a new staff member for all students, follow this procedure.

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Click the teacher's link.
  4. Click 
     (Additional options), and then select Change Staff.
  5. On the Change Staff dialog, select the new staff member to assign.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Back to return to the Teacher Assignment Search page.

Delete teacher assignment by student criteria

If you need to delete all student assignments for a teacher, follow this procedure.

Caution

There is no confirmation prompt for the delete. The assignments will be deleted immediately after you click the 

 (Delete) icon.

  1. Select Administration > Mark Reporting Setup > Standards & Competencies > Teacher Assignment.
  2. If needed, enter criteria on the search page for a Simple or Advanced Search, and then click Load.
  3. Click the teacher's link.
  4. Click 
     (Delete).
  5. Click Back to return to the Teacher Assignment Search page.

Fields

Search Results Panel

Field

Description

Competency Group

Code and description for the competency group. Only student competency groups display in this option.

Building

For building competencies, indicates the building for the competency group.

Building Type

For district or state competencies, indicates the type of building that is assigned to this competency group.

Default Assignment

The teacher or type of teacher who will be entering marks for the standards and competencies.

Select:

M - Manual Entry - The Build Student Competencies option will assign the selected teacher to all students for whom the competency group is reported. When you select Manual, a Staff ID field displays in the Staff ID column, and you can select the appropriate staff member. Only one staff member can be assigned for the competency group.

P - Primary Homeroom - The Build Student Competencies option will assign the teacher associated with the student's primary homeroom.

S - Secondary Homeroom - The Build Student Competencies option will assign the teacher associated with the student's secondary homeroom.

C - Student Criteria - The Build Student Competencies option will assign the teacher to students listed for the teacher on the Teacher Competency Assignment Student Criteria page. When Student Criteria is selected, the Add icon displays in the Staff ID column. Refer to the Staff ID field for more information.

U - Unassigned - The Build Student Competencies option will not assign a teacher for this competency group.

Staff ID

The selection in the Default Assignment field determines what displays in this field.

If M - Manual Entry is selected, then a field displays where you can select the staff member to assign to all students for this competency group.

If C - Student Criteria is selected, then an Add icon displays so you can add an assignment and links display for existing teacher assignments. For more information on selecting the students to assign to a teacher, refer to the Teacher Competency Assignment Student Criteria Page.

  • To add an assignment, click Add.
  • To change students for an existing teacher or to change the teacher for the selected students, click the teacher's link.
