Academically Disadvantaged

Defines the types of reasons that students may be considered academically disadvantaged for example, Scored Below 25th Percentile. Validates the Academically Disadvantaged field on the Personal Information page.

Athletic Eligibility Reason

Defines the types of reasons that a student may be eligible or ineligible for participation in activities; for example, Missed Three Practices. Validates the Reason field for manual entries on the Eligibility panel of the Activities page. If you calculate eligibility based on attendance, discipline, report cards, or interim progress reports, the calculation sets the reason based on system-defined reason codes.

There is also an Athletic Eligibility Status table which defines the valid eligibility status codes. For more information, refer to the Athletic Eligibility Status Page.

Attachment Category

Defines the categories of attachments that can be stored for students. A category record includes the security resources required for users to upload and download files that have the category assigned. Validates the Attachment Category field on the Student Attachments window.

Besides defining the type of attachment that is stored, a category specifies the security resources required for users to download a particular document. For example, the category REGMAINT could identify Registration attachments, such as the pdf file of a birth certificate. To see the document in the Student Attachments window, users could be required to have security for the Registration package, Maintenance subpackage, and Maintenance feature, as assigned to the category.

Sec Package

Select the software application within eSchoolPlus associated with the attachment category, such as REG for Registration or MED for Medical. A user with package access can run all options for that package.

If a Security Package is not selected, all users will be able to access all attachments that have this category assigned, regardless of their security resources.

Sec Subpackage

Select the Subpackage within the Security Package specified in the previous field. A user with Subpackage access can run a group of options under the associated package, such as the Year-End Processing options in the Medical package. A Security Package must be selected to enter a Subpackage.

If a Subpackage is not selected, users who have the Security Package selected will be able to access all attachments that have this category assigned, without regard to Subpackage restrictions.

Feature

Select the level of security that applies to specific options or fields within the subpackage. For example, if MED (Medical) is the package and MAINT (Maintenance) is the sub package, you could assign IMMUN (Maintain Student Immunizations) as the required security resource for personnel who can enter and view immunization documents. A Security Subpackage must be selected to enter a Feature.

If a Feature is not selected, users who have the specified Security Package-Subpackage combination will able to access all attachments that have this category assigned, without regard to Feature restrictions.

Building of Residence Types

Defines the types of residence buildings for which you define GeoCode Plans; for example, Primary Residence Building or English as a Second Language Building. Validates the Building of Residence Type field on the GeoCode Plan Area Detail and Zone Detail pages. When only one type of building of residence is defined, use "P" - Primary as the default value. By default, "P" should be used for all buildings unless alternate building of residence types are required for different subsets of students (for example: Title 1 School, ESL School, Performing Arts School, and so on).

Scheduling Weight

Enter the weight (between 0 and 99.999) that the Scheduling system will use to determine how students with this classification are scheduled. If your district does not consider classification when scheduling students, enter 0.

In the Scheduling System, classification weights can be used to:

  • balance students within course-sections so students with classifications are spread evenly throughout the sections for a course. When a user runs the Student Scheduler, the user can choose to balance by classification in the Balance Courses field.
  • limit a course-section to a maximum weight of classified students. The maximum weight for a course-section can be defined as a percentage of the class or as a total number. If the Master Schedule has a value for the Classified Students Maximum field, then the Student Scheduler and Student Center > Scheduling options will not allow a student to be scheduled into a course-section if it would result in exceeding the maximum.

Note that classification weights cannot be used to balance study halls using the Study Hall Scheduler.

Alternate Language
