Import Mark Reporting from Pinnacle

You can import marks, comments, and absences from the Pinnacle Gradebook. The import overwrites existing mark reporting data for the student and the selected marking period. Note that an existing mark will be overwritten even if the Override box is checked in eSchoolPlus.

Prerequisites

Importing data into eSchoolPlus is a two-stage process. Before you can import data, the data must first be loaded to the staging tables in the eSchoolPlus database. Refer to the documentation for Pinnacle for information about this process.

Marks for which you want to import data must be issued multiple times per year. For more information, refer to the Mark Types Page.

Import Progress Reports from Pinnacle Gradebook

Select Administration > Utilities > Integration > Pinnacle Import Utility.
On the Pinnacle Import Utility page, set the Import Type field to Mark Reporting.
In the Building field, select the building to process.
In the Marking Periods field, select the marking periods you are importing.
In the Run panel, select to run the import now or schedule it to run.
Click Run.
After the import is complete, check the pinnacle_rc_2.log for rejected records.

Import Error Messages

The following error messages may display in log to explain why a record was rejected.

Error	Description
Student ID,..., is invalid.	The student ID for the record does not exist in the eSchoolPlus demographics table.
Section-key,..., session,..., does not exist in the master schedule.	Section and session information entered in the record does not exist in the eSchoolPlus master schedule.
Student is not enrolled in course-section-session,..., for the marking-periods given.	The student is not enrolled in the section for any of the marking-periods for which the import was run. Note that in eSchoolPlus a student may still be eligible to receive marks for a section even if (s)he has dropped the course from his or her schedule. Enrollment for this purpose is considered as mark-reporting enrollment.
Absence type,..., is invalid.	The absence type for the record is not valid.
Absence value,..., is not valid.	The value given for the number of absences was out of range (a negative value).
Comment type,..., is invalid.	The comment type for the record is not valid.
Comment code,..., is invalid.	The comment value for the record is not valid.
Mark type,..., is invalid.	The mark type for the record is invalid.
Mark value,..., is invalid.	The mark value for the record is invalid.
Student ID,..., is invalid.	The student ID for the record does not exist in the eSchoolPlus demographics table.
Section-key,..., session,..., does not exist in the master schedule.	Section and session information entered in the record does not exist in the eSchoolPlus master schedule.
