Checklist for Verifying Upload Definition for Test Score Data

Prior to running the Run Upload option, review the following list of questions to check that your upload definition has been defined correctly.

If you are using the Import Scores from File option to load test scores, refer to Test Score Import Definition Page.

  • Did you create a header for the student test record and a header for each subtest score you want to upload?
  • For the header for the student test record, does the Table Affected field indicate ltdb_stu_test?
  • For the header for the student test record, do the corresponding detail records include the following key fields: test name, test level, test form, test key, test date, student id?
  • For the header for the student test record, did you set the Transcript Print field to either a Y or N? This field does not allow nulls so the upload will not be successful unless you enter a value for the field.
  • For the header for a student subtest record, does the Table Affected field in the header record indicate ltdb_stu_subtest?
  • For the header for a student subtest record, do the corresponding detail record include the following key fields: test name, test level, test form, test key, test date, subtest, student id, score code, and score?
  • If the data file does not include student ID and you are using external matching to return the student ID, do you have enough fields in the data file to uniquely select a student? Typically, last name, first name, and birthdate are sufficient to return unique student IDs. Do all of the detail records have the column to upload set to student ID and the External Column Out set to student ID?
  • In all headers, did you enter the correct literal value for the test name, test level, test form? These values must be spelled exactly the same as they are defined in the test definition.
  • If you defined the test date as a literal in the header, did you verify that the date is correct for the test scores that you are uploading? This is a literal that you will need to change if you run the upload to load scores for the same test key, but for a different test date.
  • For each subtest, if you use a literal to enter subtest name, does it match exactly the subtest name entered on the corresponding subtest definition?
  • For each subtest score, have you defined the score code exactly as it is defined in the subtest definition?
  • If your data file is fixed length, double check your addition to make sure the lengths you have entered will result in the correct positions in the data file layout. For example, a data file position of 150-152 should have a length of 3, not 2, since the range identifies three positions.
  • If the score data may have leading blanks, have you added the appropriate formatting?
  • If there are fields for which you had to define formatting? If so, is that formatting defined correctly?
  • If data should be validated before being loaded, have you entered the appropriate validation information?
