TREx Assessment Configuration

Menu Path: Select Administration from the main menu, select General Setup submenu, select District District Defined, then select TREx Assessment Configuration.

PowerSchool pre-loads data for this setup for the standard state test score definitions. Your district only needs to enter the Score Priority, Group by Grade, and Score Number values. However, your district may change this setup.

For a TREx Test Name, you can have only one record that defines the score to print for the Assessment Score section of TREx.

You can define additional records for a test if you are reporting an Assessment Subtest section for an assessment score section, which allows you to report another score from the student's subtest record on the test date.

For example, you could print the TAKS Writing subscore of the TAKS Exit Level Language Arts assessment.

Report an Assessment Subtest

To report an Assessment Subtest score for a test, enter the sub-assessment in the XML Group 2 field to create additional records. When you define a sub-assessment record, the TREx file includes scores from the same test date for the Assessment Score and Assessment Subtest sections.

  1. Verify the assessment record for the Assessment Score section includes the correct number of scores.
  2. Create a new record with the same values for TREx Test Name, TREx Test Description, XML Group 1, Test Code, and Subtest.
  3. For XML Group 2, enter Subassessment.
  4. For TREx Subtest Name, enter the name of the subtest as it should display in the TREx file.
  5. For Score, enter the name of the score field to pull from the selected subtest.
  6. To include another assessment subtest, repeat steps 2 through 5.

To exclude test scores after a certain date, enter the last date to include in the extract. If this field is blank, all test scores from the start date forward will be extracted.

Score Priority

Select the score priority to define which scores should be extracted:

  • F – First test score based on test date.
  • L – Last test score based on test date.
  • A – Best ascending test score.
  • D – Best descending test score.

For the sub-assessment records, this value does not affect the results. The TREx file includes scores from the same test date for the Assessment Score and Assessment Subtest sections.

Group by Grade

To apply the score priority to each grade level grouping of test scores, check this box.

Otherwise, the score priority pertains to all valid test scores.

For the sub-assessment records, this value does not affect the results. The TREx file includes scores from the same test date for the Assessment Score and Assessment Subtest sections.

Score Number

Enter the total number of scores to send or 0 to send all existing scores.

If Group by Grade is selected, this indicates number of tests per grade level.

For the sub-assessment records, this value does not affect the results. When you define a sub-assessment record, the TREx file includes scores from the same test date for the Assessment Score and Assessment Subtest sections.

Test Code

Name of the test as defined in Test Definitions.

For the sub-assessment records, this value must match the parent record for the test.

Subtest

Name of the subtest as defined in Test Definitions.

For the sub-assessment records, this value must match the parent record for the test.

Score

Name of the score field to include in the extract as the score. If your district uses the provided state test definitions, enter Scale.

Score Code

Name of the field which indicates how the test was scored. If your district uses the provided state test definitions, enter Score.

Met Scores

Name of the field which indicates whether the student met the exit level requirements. In the standard test definitions, this is the METST score. This field only applies to exit level tests.

Test Date Field

This is for the STAAR End-of-Course tests which use two-digit codes to indicate when the test was taken, in combination with the test year. For instance, 2013-13 indicates Fall 2013.

To reference the Test Date from the student's Test History record, leave this field blank.

Language Version Field

This determines the language version of the test.  Based on this Score field, eSchoolPlus uses the Language Version Value field to find which TREx Test Name to report for the student's test.

Language Version Value

Used with the associated Language Version Field to determine the language for the TREx Test Name to report.

For example, TAKS subtests have English and Spanish versions, identified by values of E and S in the Subtest's LangVer Score Code field.  The software uses the Language Version Value to map a student's test to the correct TREx Test Name in the Assessment Configuration.

Student Grade

Student grade level associated with the assessment.

The software checks the grade level for the student in the Test History record. It then checks if the test and subtest have a record specified with the grade level in the TREx Assessment Configuration. If so, eSchoolPlus creates the TREx Student Assessment record for the TREx Test Name.

Test Version Field

This determines the test's version, in a case where an assessment has different versions such as Accommodated or Modified. The software looks for the value indicated in the Test Version field and uses the value to find which TREx Test Name to report.

Test Version

Used with the associated Test Version Field to determine the TREx Test Name to report.

For example, STAAR subtests have Modified and Alternate versions, identified by values of M and T in the Subtest's TestVer Score Code field. The software uses the Test Version to map a student's test to the correct TREx Test Name in the Assessment Configuration.
