Tests – Student EOC Requirements

Menu path: From the Test Scores menu, choose All, choose Student, and then select Student EOC Requirements HB5.

Student EOC Requirements HB5

The page conforms to the testing requirements set by the 83rd Texas Legislature House Bill 5, which requires students to pass the end-of-course (EOC) exams for Algebra I, English I and II, Reading I and II, Writing I and II, Biology, and US History. Use this page to review an individual student's progress toward the STAAR EOC exam graduation requirements. A student's Test History records display the tests taken, and the highest score and test achievement level attained, including the test date for each high score. If necessary, you can override the data from Test History or enter an exemption.

The information included on the student's transcript is based on the EOC Transcript Display setup in Mark Reporting. The Cohort Year and Diploma Type are retrieved from the Academic page.

Student EOC Requirements HB5 Overrides

You can override Test History values for an EOC exam depending on your security access.

Use this feature only if you need to print different values for a specific EOC test than the values in the student's Test History records.

  1. Navigate to the Student EOC Requirements HB5 page.
  2. Update the following fields as needed:
    • Highest Score
    • Season
    • School Year
    • Highest Level
  3. Select Override to update the test.
  4. Click Save.

To restore the Test History values, clear the Override field for the test, then click Save.

EOC Test Name Crosswalk

The EOC Test Name Crosswalk translates tests from Test History records into the EOC subject areas required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The test names on the Student EOC Requirements HB5 page and the subsequent student transcript differ from the descriptions in the student's Test History records. The page converts the Test History subtests into labels that align with the EOC test graduation requirements described in House Bill 5.

Scores for the Reading and Writing exams (I or II) only display if the student completes them before the English (I or II) exams.

The following table lists the TREx Test Name code associated with each EOC test name. The page uses the subtest tied to the TREx Test Name to get the student's Highest Score, Test Date, and Highest Level for each required EOC test. When a student has a Cohort year and the Cohort year is defined for EOC requirements setup, only the rows that are marked for display on the EOC Requirements Setup page are displayed on the Student EOC Requirements HB5 page.

The subtest score for the student's Highest Level depends on the Test Date when the student earned that level. The following table describes the source score field for each level a student can attain.

EOC Test Achievement Level

*Score Code and Description if Test Date from the 2012 School Year

Score Code and Description if Test Date from the 2013 School Year

Score Code and Description if Test Date from the 2014 School Year or Later

Level I

L1AMSP1 – Level I: Achieved Minimum Score at the Phase-in 1 Standard

L1StuSTD – Level 1: Achieved Minimum Score at Student's Standard

N/A

Level II

L2SPP1 – Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance at the Phase-in 1 Standard

L2StuSTD – Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance at Student's Standard

L2StuSTD – Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance at Student's Standard

Level III

**L3ADV – Level III: Advanced Academic Performance

L3StuSTD – Level III: Advanced/ Accomplished Academic Performance at Student's Std

L3StuSTD – Level III: Advanced/ Accomplished Academic Performance at Student's Std

* For 2012 tests, data in the L1AMSP1, L2SPP1, and L3ADV score fields was copied to the L1StuSTD, L2StuSTD, and L3StuSTD score fields. This allows the Texas Transcript to get the correct values more efficiently when determining the student's Highest Level for an exam.

** This was the Phase-in standard for Algebra II and English III Reading and Writing. For all other subjects, this signified the recommended standard.

Levels of Achievement

Students must have EOC test scores with a Y in at least one of the following fields:

  1. Masters Grade Level
  2. Meets Grade Level
  3. Approaches Grade Level at Student's Standard
  4. Level III: Advanced Academic Performance at Student's Standard
  5. Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance at Student's Standard
  6. Level I: Achieved Minimum Score at Student's Standard

The order determines the Level of Achievement to report if there is more than one Y.
