Full Year Schedule and Average Rule Most Times Scenario

The following rules apply when a building has full-year courses or a combination of semester-length and full-year courses, and a user should override credit when a student changes sections of a full-year course between semesters:

  • Credit is issued on a semester mark.
  • Each course in the Master Schedule that prints on a transcript must have this mark type.
  • Credit is calculated on the local course and moves to the state course when you run the Build Course Equivalency option.
  • Every course on the PEIMS Course page must have a course sequence code where the length matches the number of semester marks that the course issues. For example, a full-year course with two semester marks could have a sequence of 12 to indicate sequences 1 and 2 of a state course.
  • Include final mark types in all year-long courses.

Average Setup

Teachers may choose to enter a final average. If they do not enter an average, you must define an average setup for the final mark type for each marking period in which a multi-part course is completed.  For example, if each semester is 9 weeks, then an average setup must exist at marking period 2 and marking period 4.
