Work with Multiple Classes in a Period

Teacher Access Center allows you to select to display the students for a single course-section or for multiple course-sections that meet in the same period.

In some situations, the classwork for the combination classes may be similar, so you may want to work with students in the multiple classes in Gradebook. You can also take attendance using multiple classes, but still work with individual classes in Gradebook.

TAC provides lets you choose to work in Multiple or Single mode:

  • Multiple Mode: Displays all students you are scheduled to teach for the period.

  • Single Mode: Displays only the students you are scheduled to teach for the selected course-section.

How do I switch between Single and Multiple mode?

TAC includes a Multiple/Single Mode selector to enable you to select the mode that fits your needs. The selector displays on the toolbar of pages that allow you to work in either Multiple or Single mode.

The mode you select is retained as you navigate to other pages in TAC. So, if you select Multiple mode while on the Report Cards page and then navigate to the Attendance Entry by List page, you'll still be in Multiple mode.

How does my display change in Multiple mode?

In Multiple mode, the toolbar will display the period you selected instead of course-section information. The students from the multiple classes that meet in the period will be listed in alphabetical order and a Course column displays indicating the course-section for each student.

For more information, refer to Using the Gradebook Page for Multiple Classes.

How can I see which course-sections will be combined for Multiple mode?

The Class List selector displays an indicator next to the course-sections that are included in Multiple mode for the period. Click Change to display the Class List selector.

When can course-sections that meet in the same period be combined?

Refer to the following chart for an explanation of how the options that provide Multiple mode determine which course-sections to combine.
