Medication Log Page

Use this page to add or view medications or treatments that have been given for a student. This page also displays the medications that are issued based on entries on the Day Sheets page or the RX/TX field on the Daily Log page.

Your Medical Configuration determines the number of days prior to the current date for which you can update medical records. The page initially displays the records that have been given within this timeframe. Use the Selections panel's Prior to Current Period option to view medications or treatments that are past your building's limit on days.

If the medication was issued prior to that period, you cannot change information or delete it.

Medications can also be recorded as issued using the Day Sheet option.

Display student's medication log

  1. Select Medical > All > Student > Medication Log.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.

Display medications issued prior to the current period

  1. Select Medical > All > Student > Medication Log.
  2. If the Search page displays, search and select the student.
  3. On the Selections panel, set the Display Medications Issued field to Prior to Current Period.
  4. Click Load.

Add issued medication

  1. Select Medical > All > Student > Medication Log.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. If you selected to display records prior to the current period, set the Selections panel's Display Medications Issued to Current Period (past #) days, and click Load.
  4. In the blank row at the bottom of the Medication Log panel, enter the medication information.
  5. Click Save..

If you add a medication for a date that is prior to the current period that can be edited, the medication record will not be displayed after the save. To see the record, change the Display Medications Issued field to the Prior to Current Period option, and click Load.

Change issued medication information

After a medicine has issued, you can edit the time, comment, and initials.

  1. Select Medical > All > Student > Medication Log.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. If you selected to display records prior to the current period, set the Selections panel's Display Medications Issued to Current Period (past #) days, and click Load.
  4. Change the medication information as needed.
  5. Click Save.

Delete issued medication

  1. Select Medical > All > Student > Medication Log.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. If you selected to display records prior to the current period, set the Selections panel's Display Medications Issued to Current Period (past #) days, and click Load.
  4. Select the 
     (Delete) checkbox for each record to delete.
  5. Click Save.

Fields

Student Information Bar

The bar, which displays on all student pages just below the Home icon and Menu button, includes options to view the student's alerts, attachments, and notes and to email the student's teachers and guardians.

Alerts & Disabilities Panel

This information displays only if medical alerts or disabilities have been entered on the student's Emergency page.

Description

Medical Alerts

The Medical Alert Code, Description, and Comments, if any, entered on the Medical Alerts panel of the student's Emergency page.

Disabilities

The Disability Code and Description, if any, entered on the Disabilities panel of the Emergency page.

Selections Panel

Use the fields on this panel to select the medication records to display. After you change selections, click Load to display the records.

Field

Description

Display Medications Issued

Select to display the current period (records that can be edited) or prior records. On this page, current period is determined based on the number of prior days of medical records that allow edits as defined in the Medical Configuration.

Select:

Current Period (past #) days - to display the student's records that can be edited. The number of days included in the current period is indicated in parenthesis. For example, if this label displays as "Current Period (past 1) days", then today's records are displayed.
Prior to Current Period - to display prior records that cannot be edited.

Issued Date

To filter medication records to a specific date, enter the date.

Rx/Tx

To filter medication records to a specific medication, select the medication.

Dosage

To filter medication records to a specific dose number, enter the dose number.

Initials

To filter medication records to those issued by a specific person based on initials, enter the initials.

Medication Log Panel

This panel displays the student's medication records as specified in the Selections panel.

Field

Description

Date (Issued Date)

The date that the medicine was given.

Time

The time the medicine was given. Enter the time in the format HH:MM AM or HH:MM PM.

If the Day Sheet option was used to add the medication dose, then the time was the current system time when the user clicked the Issue button.

Rx/Tx

Select the medicine or treatment given to the student. You can only enter medicines that have been entered on the student's Medication Requirements page. For a medicine to be entered here, the date issued must be within the requirement's start and end dates.

Dose (Dosage)

The number of the dose given, if multiples can be given in a day. If only one dose can be given, enter 1.

Comment

Text about the medicine given or the dosage, for example, if only a partial dosage was given. Character/255
