Interval Totals Page

Use this page to view attendance interval information generated for a student by the Interval Totals calculation. The totals, which are based on the attendance views set up for your building, can apply to either the regular school year or summer school, depending on the environment selected.

The Totals panel includes two sections for displaying interval information:

Intervals

Shows totals for Membership and Code or Group. The values depend on the view selected.

Detail Day View Criteria

Displays the following for each criterion in the view: total attendance periods, the student's scheduled and unscheduled periods (or minutes, if applicable), and the number of attendance periods present and absent.

Prerequisites

Verify that the Interval Totals Calculation was run for the building, view, and intervals that apply to the totals you want to see.

To run the calculation, click the Additional Options icon, and then select Run Calculation.

Note

When you run the Interval Totals Calculation from the Interval Totals page, Run Option's For Current Interval(s) Only is used to calculate the totals.

The Run Calculation option runs the Interval Totals Calculation and automatically selects the For Current Interval(s) Only as the Run Option selection. For more information refer to the Interval Totals Calculation Page.

If Day Totals were not recently calculated, you may need to run the Day Totals calculation before you run the Interval Totals calculation. To view the student's day totals, select Attendance > All > Student > Day Totals.

View interval totals

  1. Select Attendance > All > Student > Interval Totals.
  2. On the Selections card, select the appropriate View Type and Display Field.
  3. Click Load to display the totals.

Fields

Selections Panel

Complete the following fields, then click Load to display the student's interval totals.

Field

Description

View Type

Select the appropriate attendance view.

If you change the view, you must run the Interval Totals calculation. Click the Additional options icon, and then select Run Calculation.

Display Field

The type of attendance grouping to use in calculating totals. This selection does not affect the totals, only the display field (Code or Group) in the Intervals section.

Select:

C - Code - to check absences by attendance codes.
D - District Group - to check absences within the district group.
S - State Group - to check absences within the state group.

Totals Panel

Note:

To scroll vertically within the Totals panel to view more options, use the vertical scroll bar.

To change vertical scrolling to scroll within the page, click the Additional Options icon on the Totals panel, and then select Scroll on Page.

To change back to grid scrolling, click the Additional Options icon on the Totals panel, and then select Scroll in Grid.

Intervals Section

This section shows the attendance totals for the student as calculated based on the selected attendance view. The view may convert multiple absence codes into one absence code or group.

Field

Description

Membership

The total membership value for the selected interval type.

Code or Group

The student's total absence value per interval, as calculated for the code or group. The field's title and data depend on the View Type and Display Field selected.

Detail Day View Criteria Section

This section displays a breakdown of the interval totals calculated for the view. For each criterion that the student met, you can see the total periods or minutes calculated.

Description

Interval

Identifies the interval that applies to the student's attendance totals.

Criteria

Number of the criterion. A view type may have multiple criteria to convert attendance records into totals. For each criterion, the grid shows the total number of periods or minutes calculated.

Total Day Periods

The total number of attendance periods or minutes for the criterion that is part of this attendance view.

Student Scheduled Periods

The total number of periods or minutes in which the student had a scheduled course where attendance is taken.

Student Unscheduled Periods

The total number of periods or minutes in which the student did not have a scheduled course where attendance is taken.

Present Periods

If the student had an absence, the number of attendance periods or minutes the student was present.

Absent Periods

The total number of attendance periods or minutes the student was absent.
