Average Mark Substitution Setup Page

On this page:

Use this page to define rules specifying how the Mark Averages Calculation should convert numeric averages to marks when the Mark Averages Calculation runs. To use mark substitution rules to convert marks for a mark type, you must set the Average Setup page's Resulting Average for Regular Course Is field to Mark Substitution.

Typically, mark substitution is used to override how averages would be converted to marks based on the level table's Average Using values. For example, if a student should never receive a mark below 50 for a mark type, you would create a mark substitution record that converts numeric values of 0-49 to a mark of 50. For more information on how the level table is used to convert marks, refer to the Average Using Value field on the Level Table Page.

Note

Mark substitution is used to convert marks for mark types that are calculated using the Mark Averages Calculation. If the mark type is calculated by the Load from Gradebook or Load Gradebook Averages, then mark substitution is not used to return the mark.
