Consecutive Hours - 30 Hours Unexcused

Use the following guidelines to set up Attendance Notification Criteria for calculating the HB 410 absence threshold 30 consecutive hours of unexcused absences. Students meeting this criteria are considered chronic truants.

Criteria Code and Criteria DescriptionMake sure you reuse the same code across buildings for each absence threshold's Attendance Notification Criteria record. This is important when you are capturing a student's attendance for multiple buildings.
Notification GroupSelect the Notification Group you defined for House Bill 410.
Processing Order

Order in which this criteria record will be processed by the Attendance Notifications Calculation relative to other criteria in the Notification Group. This is an ordinal number, with 1 signifying highest priority.

Organize criteria as follows, from highest priority to lowest:

  • 30 Consecutive Hours Unexcused
  • 42 Hours Unexcused in a Month
  • 72 Hours Unexcused in a Year
  • 38 Hours Excused or Unexcused in a Month
  • 65 Hours Excused or Unexcused in a Year

Include Student Attendance

Select whether the Criteria record applies only to the selected building or if it should count student absences in prior enrollment buildings for the dates you process through the Attendance Criteria Calculation. If you select Y - From All Buildings, please verify the following codes are defined consistently across your buildings:

  • Attendance Code you use as the Convert to Code for excused absences in the HB 410 Attendance View setup.
  • Attendance Code you use as the Convert to Code for unexcused absences in the HB 410 Attendance View setup.
  • View Type for HB 410 processing.
  • Attendance Notification Criteria code you use for tracking 30 consecutive hours of unexcused absences.

Calculation panel - Occurrence Criteria section - Consecutive Minutes

CriteriaSelect Consecutive Minutes.
Consecutive MinutesEnter 1800, meaning the calculation creates the notification when a student has 1800 consecutive minutes of unexcused absences.

At Risk panel

FieldsDescription
At RiskSelect this box to indicate a student meeting this criteria should have at risk status updated for the associated At Risk Reason.
At Risk ReasonSelect the At Risk Reason you defined for this HB 410 absence threshold.
Duration of Status

Choose how long a student keeps the at risk status after absences meet this criteria. At the end of the indicated duration, the student's at risk status expires. Next time you run the Attendance Notification Calculation, the At Risk Reason no longer displays on the student's At Risk Detail page.

You can set the duration to a specific number of regular calendar days, a specific number of school membership days, a current duration, or the next occurrence of a duration. Available durations are based on Registration Marking Period Setup. (Administration > Registration Setup > Calendars > Marking Periods)

Number of DaysEnter the number of calendar days or school membership days before the student's calculated at risk status expires for this criteria record.
