Several fields in the SSEC report require you to set up district-defined fields for tracking the following information:

  • Whether a discipline incident involved a bias-related offense against DASA (Dignity for All Students) characteristics.
  • Whether a discipline incident took place outside regular school hours.
  • Whether a discipline incident involved a violent act toward a victim.
  • Whether a reporting school has a police officer or safety resource on a regularly scheduled basis.

To set up the incident-level fields:

  1. Select Administration from the main menu, select General Setup submenu, select District, and then select District Defined: Incident Screen Type.
  2. Add and save a new incident-level district-defined page for tracking SSEC Report information. Refer to the base eSchoolPlus online help, District-Defined Screen Setup topic.
  3. Access the Screen Detail page for the incident district-defined page you added.
  4. On the Field Definitions tab, click the New Field button.
  5. Add a field for each of the three incident-level settings described above.
    • As the Field Type, select C – Checkbox.
    • For Default Value, select N – Unchecked.
    • For tips on field labels, you can refer to the NY SSEC Setup section that follows.
  6. Once you set up the page and fields, use the NY SSEC Setup district-level district-defined page to assign the incident screen and field numbers the NY SSEC report will use to track each of the incident settings.

To set up the building-level field, follow the same basic steps using (menu path: Select Administration from the main menu, select General Setup submenu, select District, and then select District Defined: Building Screen Type). Do this for the Police Officer Present setting.
