Setting PARCC Pre-ID Test Exclusions
You can define a testing Exclusion Code to submit for a student instead of the PARCC Test Code associated with the scheduled student course. The Exclusion Code, if found by the download, gets reported in the Pre-ID file's Test Code field. The PARCC Pre-ID checks for an Exclusion Code using the following hierarchy:
- Student Course level – NJ PARCC Student Overrides student course page
- Master Schedule level – NJ PARCC Course Information Master Schedule page
- Building Course Catalog level – NJ PARCC Course Information building course page
- District Course Catalog level – NJ PARCC Course Information district course page
- If the download finds no Exclusion Code, it reports the PARCC Test Code assigned to the scheduled course's State Course Code.
This logic affects the way you assign the Exclusion Codes. For example, suppose you have a Master Schedule course-section where 28 students need an Exclusion Code, and two students need the Test Code associated with the State Course Code.
In this case, you would assign the Exclusion Codes at the Student Course level for the students who need one.
Follow these basic guidelines:
Student Course Exclusion Code: Use this level for Exclusion Code entry if some students in a specific course-section have a PARCC test exclusion and other students in the same course-section do not.
Master Schedule Exclusion Code: Set an Exclusion Code at this level only if you know an exclusion applies to all students in a specific course-section.
Building Course Catalog Exclusion Code: Set an Exclusion Code at this level only if you know an exclusion will apply to all students in the building taking the course, regardless of course-section.
District Course Catalog Exclusion Code: Set an Exclusion Code at this level only if you know an exclusion will apply to all students in your district taking the course, regardless of building.
