The settings on this page are used to set default values where applicable for the Student Course collection. If your district has grade levels where final student course marks are not recorded, you need to identify those grades here and decide how final grade and credit information gets loaded for students.

Before you set up this district configuration, decide how you are sending "course end" data for Kindergarten through 8th grade students (Course End Date, Final Letter Grade, Course Credit). If you track student course marks and credit for all grade levels, you do not need to make designations on this page. The page is for grade levels where you have no Mark Reporting data to send for final course grades and credit.

To set up the ISBE ISCS Term page for submitting K-8 course-end fields:

1. Determine if your district records Mark Reporting final grade and course credit information for student courses in any grade levels from kindergarten through 8th grade.
   • Grade levels that have final marks and credit will not require set up on this page.
   • If all K-8 grade levels have "course-end" data, you only need to decide if and how to use the Term fields on this page. Refer to the field descriptions for details.
2. For grade levels without final marks and credit, decide how you want to send this information in the Student Course collection. You can either set up the district-defined configuration to send blank values or default values.
   • If you are handling all the remaining grade levels by sending blanks, refer to Step 3.
   • If you are handling all the remaining grade levels by sending default values, refer to Step 4.
   • If you are handling some grade levels with blanks and some with defaults, follow Steps 3 and 4.
3. For grade levels that should send blanks for course-end fields, set up the K-8 No Stu Marks Grade List and associated Default fields as follows:
   • K-8 No Stu Marks Grade List – Enter a comma-separated list with the State Code Equiv values for grades that will send blank values. State Code Equivs are found in Administration > Registration Setup > Setup > Grades.
   • Default fields – Select BLANK for each of the three Default fields directly below K-8 No Stu Marks Grade List.
4. If you are sending blanks for all grade levels that lack Mark Reporting course-end data, you can Save.  If you have another set of grade levels requiring default values, proceed to Step 5.
5. For grade levels that should send a default value for course-end fields, set up the K-8 Stu Marks Grade List and associated Default fields as follows:
   • K-8 Stu Marks Grade List - Enter a comma-separated list with the State Code Equiv values for grades that will send default values. State Code Equivs are found in Administration > Registration Setup > Setup > Grades.
   • Default Course End Date – Do not make a selection in this field. This tells the download to get the End Date through its standard process.
   • Default Final Letter Grade – Select P. This value will default in the Course Final Letter Grade field for students in the indicated grade levels.
   • Default Course Credit – Select 0.  This value will default in the Course Credit field for students in the indicated grade levels.
