GPA Summary Page

Use this page to view a summary of the grade point average (GPA) and rank information for a student. This page displays the current GPA and class rank and the cumulative GPA and class rank for each rank period for the GPA types.

For each GPA type, your administrator selected whether the GPA is issued by year, term, or report card run. This setting determines the number of records that a student will have per year and the length of the rank period. For example, if your building has two semesters and the GPA type is issued by term, a student will have two GPA records for a year. The rank period is the period of time included in the GPA record; thus, a term GPA record reflects information for courses taken during the report card runs associated with the term.

View summary of student's GPA and rank information

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.

If you have a large number of records, click 

 (Collapse) next to the page title to collapse the page. Then expand the panel you want.

View details for student's GPA record

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. Click the record's school year link to open the GPA Detail page.

Update student's GPA record

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. Click the record's school year link to open the GPA Detail page.
  4. Make changes as needed. To change a student's GPA and override the GPA Calculation, update fields in the GPA Information panel, and select the Override Calculation checkbox. Otherwise, the GPA values will be updated when the GPA Calculation processes the record.
  5. Click Save.

Add student's GPA record

The GPA Calculation creates GPA records based on a student's mark reporting course records. Typically, you will only add a GPA record for students who transfer into the district.

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. Click Add on the GPA type's panel.
  4. Enter GPA information. If there are no corresponding mark reporting records for the GPA period, then select the Override Calculation checkbox. Otherwise, the GPA values will be updated when the GPA Calculation processes the record.
  5. Click Save.

Run GPA Calculation for student

You can run the calculation from the GPA Summary or GPA Detail page.

When you run the GPA Calculation from these pages, the system calculates the GPA for the current GPA period or all GPA records from the earliest GPA record where the Needs Recalculation checkbox is selected. For GPA types issued each term or RC run, the calculation uses the Current RC Run selected in the MR Building Configuration to determine the RC Run or Term to process.

To recalculate for a GPA record that is prior to the current GPA period, display the GPA record. Then select the Needs Recalculation checkbox and save before you select the Recalculate GPA option.

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. To recalculate the GPA from the GPA Summary page, click 
     (Additional options) on a GPA type's panel, then select Refresh GPA.
  4. To recalculate the GPA from the GPA Detail page, click the record's school year link. Then click 
     (Additional options) on a GPA type's panel, then select Recalculate GPA.

Delete GPA record

  1. Select Mark Reporting > Entry & Reports > Student > GPA Summary.
  2. If the Student Search Page displays, search for the appropriate student, then click the student's name link.
  3. Select the 
     (Delete) checkbox for each record to delete.
  4. Click Save.

Fields

Student Information Bar

The bar, which displays on all student pages just below the Home icon and Menu button, includes options to view the student's alerts, attachments, and notes and to email the student's teachers and guardians.

GPA Panel

A panel displays for each GPA type defined for the district. GPA types are defined using the GPA Setup option.

Field

Description

School Year

Year of the GPA/rank information.

Term/Report Card Run

Semester or report card run of the GPA/rank information. This field does not display if the GPA type is defined to be issued by year.

Building

The primary building associated with the student's GPA record. Typically, this is the student's last enrollment building during the rank period. If the student has transfer records for rank periods prior to transferring to your district, this is the transfer building.

If a student transfers between buildings within a rank period, the GPA record stores the last building where the student was enrolled during the rank period. If the student transfers to a building that does not calculate rank or GPA, the student's building information is not updated to the new building.

Grade

Student's grade during the rank period of this GPA record.

Current GPA

Student's grade point average for the rank period. Grade point average is calculated by dividing the total number of quality points by the total number of attempted credits for the rank period.

Your administrator has selected the precision of the GPA. A GPA may have no decimal value or up to 4 digits after the decimal point.

Current Rank

Student's rank in the class for the rank period.

This field displays only if your administrator selected to display rank for the GPA type.

Cumulative GPA

Student's grade point average of the student for all rank periods. The cumulative GPA reflects courses which are included in the specified GPA type taken during the current rank period and prior rank periods.

Your administrator has selected the precision of the GPA. A GPA may have no decimal value or up to 4 digits after the decimal point.

Cumulative Rank

Student's rank in class based on the cumulative GPA.

This field displays only if your administrator selected to display rank for the GPA type.

(Delete)

To delete a record, select the row's Delete checkbox, then click Save.
