Use this page to define the types of mark reporting comments, such as conduct, citizenship, or general comments, that can be entered in a building. You can set up the comment types for report cards, progress reports, and standards and competency reports.
If the detail page displays for a building other than the one you want, use Search to select another building.
Select the (Delete) checkbox for each record to delete.
Click Save.
Fields
Comment Types Panel
The order of the records affects the order that comment types are displayed on pages where mark reporting information can be entered. To reorder a comment type, click the tab to the left of the Code field and drag and drop to the desired location.
Field
Description
Code
Code for the comment type. Character/5
Description
Description of the comment type. Character/255
Valid Comment Codes
List of the comments that are valid for the comment type. For example, you can indicate that the CIT (Citizenship) comment can receive an E, S, or U comment. If all comments are valid, leave the field blank.
Select codes from the field's drop-down list, or click (asterisk) to select all codes, then remove any that do not apply.
Usage
The three fields that follow may not all display. The options available are based on how your building is configured to use Mark Reporting.
RC (Report Cards)
Checked if the comment type is available for report cards.
PR (Progress Reports)
Checked if the comment type is available for progress reports.
SC (Standards and Competency)
Checked if the comment type is available for standards and competency reports.
Required
Checked if the comment type is required for any students for whom progress information is entered. If a teacher enters any progress information for a student, then the teacher must enter a comment for a required comment type. Requiring a comment does not require that a teacher must enter this information for all students in a course.
Although this box can be checked for comments that are used for report cards and standards and competencies, it only affects how the progress report options require comments.
Active
Checked if the comment type is active for the current school year.
Teacher Access
Indicates if the comment type is available for teachers in Teacher Access Center.
Select:
M - Maintain and View - to display the comment type in TAC and allow teachers to enter comments. N - No Access - to not display the comment type in TAC. V - View Only - to display the comment type in TAC, but not allow teachers to enter comments.
