LEP Exempt from Taking LAL

Program-tracked indicator showing whether the student is a Non-Spanish speaking LEP (Limited English Proficiency) student who is:

• In his/her first year of enrollment in United States schools
• In a language assistance program.

Students are not required to participate in the language arts literacy test section of the NJ ASK3-8 if they meet the above criteria.
